In support of SeaKeepers International’s “Citizen Science” initiative, Seas Your Dreams led a hands-on research mission focused on studying Sargassum seaweed and its ecological impact. This expedition engaged local high school magnet students—already dual-enrolled in university science programs—in real-world marine science just off their own coast.

The mission involved collecting Sargassum samples and adjacent water for laboratory analysis. These samples will be used to study DNA composition, geographic origin, and the seaweed’s absorption of various environmental compounds. The data will contribute to broader research on oceanic nutrient cycles and pollution tracking.

As the students journeyed offshore toward major shipping lanes, they encountered porpoises, sea turtles, and other marine life, reinforcing the importance of conservation and reminding everyone aboard what we aim to protect.

This mission provided future scientists with an unforgettable, educational field experience—bridging academic study with the wonder and urgency of marine research. It reflects Seas Your Dreams’ continued dedication to advancing science through education and meaningful partnerships.
