In collaboration with Beneath the Waves, this mission focused on youth education and marine conservation in Exuma, Bahamas. We worked with local high school students—many of whom had never been on a boat or in the ocean—to introduce them to their native marine ecosystem and inspire a connection to ocean conservation.

The expedition included hands-on shark tagging and sample collection led by Dr. Austin Gallagher, who shared how sharks serve as key indicators of ecosystem health. Students learned how satellite and acoustic tracking reveal shifts in shark behavior that may reflect environmental changes or stressors in the region.

Our team also performed critical maintenance on acoustic receivers used for long-term shark tracking, using the opportunity to educate students about the science and technology behind these tools.

This mission was deeply impactful—breaking down fears, building new appreciation for sharks, and opening students’ eyes to the conservation potential right in their backyard. It perfectly embodied Seas Your Dreams’ mission to educate and empower through collaborative nonprofit efforts.
